Light the Fire
Today was absolutely wonderful! It was the end of Killing the Giants week and we had a big day. First of all, I got to sleep in for the first time in a week and it was glorious! We began our outreach at the park near the beach at around noon and it drew quite the crowd. We had all kinds of water games planned. A big slip and slide, 2000 water balloons and 3 launchers, volleyball, etc.....we all went out on the beach and invited anyone and everyone to come and play with us and many came to join in the fun. I ended up getting to chat with 2 high school girls who came by to see what was going on. So one of my roomates and new friend Hayley and I went over to talk with them. They were so sweet and were very interested in what we were doing here for the summer and why and we ended up getting to share the gospel with them in a very real way. They were both raised catholic and we asked them lots of questions and in return they had lots of questions for us. It was so fun to share with them and to just get to know them.We also had an all day prayer at the fire pit chain going. Every 30 minutes or so two people and one staff person would take turns praying and singing worship at the fire pit we had reserved for the whole day and night on the beach. I spent about an hour there after I shared with those girls just praising God for all He had done this past week and what a pleasure it was for Him to let me be a part of all those amazing conversations and being able to even have a tiny part in seeing people come to know Him this week. I am/was truly in Awe of how absolutely faithful He has been this week.
Tonight we had at our reserved pit a fire and time of sharing and praise and worship on the beach with everyone. It was so neat to hear everyones stories from the week and so encouraging for all of us to just be challenged to keep up this lifestyle of eveangelism , not just this week but for the next seven weeks here and for the rest of our lives. Nights like tonight I will definitely remember and miss so much as I think back on project when I return home. These people are amazing and I am loving getting to know them more and more everyday.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July, and I cannot believe its already here! I'm working all day and we are going to watch fireworks at the Wedge, a hot spot on the beach tomorrow night. Should be amazing!
