The Seastar: Memories in the making

I dont know if I mentioned this before but the apartments that the 60 of us have taken over for project is called The Seastar. It's a U-shaped building with two stories, 7 apartments, 2 lounges, and a pool. All of the girls live on the second floor and the boys all live downstairs. Building communtiy is inevitable here, but can be challenging. Our staff has given us some rules that are seemingly becoming harder and harder to follow for people here to follow. They call guys and girls in each other rooms after a certain time "Purple Time" ( Red and blue mixed together; red for girls and blue for boys, ridiculous I know!). So now its almost become a joke around here when things are "purple" not everyone is taking the rules about curfew and stuff very seriously. I understand that we need to have some rules and guidelines, but I will say that its been harder to get to know some of they guys here on a very deep level with the rules the way they are now. But that could be not such a bad thing I suppose. However, our staff is leaving this coming Friday and the new student project directors may have some changes to make for us in those areas.

I'm really excited about staff leaving. While I love my bible study leader/discipler here and will miss her, I'm excited to see all of us unite together to run project the way that we want to and come up with new ideas for outreaches and socials and the way our meetings and bible studies run. I was asked to be a bible study leader and take over my group and to disciple the girls in my group. I am so excited. We had training last night for all of us who are leaders and they gave us some great resources and tools that I will not only be able to use here, but also when I get back to mine and Kim's bible study back at school. I really look forward to bringing everything I've learned here and for Kim having been on project as well......our girls are going to get so sick of us talking about project stuff i'm sure, but I feel so prepared and have a fresh outlook for what leading a small group and disipleship should look like.

Today we have a potluck community breakfast here and then this afternoon and outreach and then tonight we have another "Date with Jesus night"! We had one of those the first sunday night we were here and it was SO good, so I am excited to have another one, I've been longing for it! It's easy to have consistent times with the Lord here in the project environment, but a scheduled time of 3 hours to get away, alone and just have some quality, fun time with Jesus is so exciting. I've got some great date ideas in store for this evening, more on that tomorrow!

I cant believe we are starting our 5th week here! Five down and five more to go....There are still so many fun things I have on the list to do while here in California! Love and Blessings, A

A,
I don't think I could do project simply on account of the rules. We both know there's no chance of me following a single one... Just sneak those boys up! Come on A! Don't listen to those lame rules! Boys boys boys! Yeah ah.
